Telecommuting

Yesterday the company I work for announced that the call center I work at will be closing. But that we can work from home and receive the same pay and benefits. Yea! They have been trying out the program for while just for this reason. So in the long run its a good thing. They will pay for the computer I would use at home for work and the new broadband line dedicated just for work. Its jsut a major change which means we will need to do some major changes in the apartment since my other 2 roomies also work for the same company. Change can be good…I hope.

Death and Taxes

OK, there is nothing in this post about Death. But I have filed both my Federal and State taxes. It was a very quick and easy almost painless process. HINT- if you go the Turbotax website and setup a new account and be sure it takes you to TurboTax Freedom editon, you can file you Federal and State free of charge, and Free is good. If you can’t get the Freedom Edition run, and it keeps going to “Basic” you may have to go thru the IRS page and then pick the company and be sure you pick Turbotax.

Any way, so all I’m filed and now just waiting for the $$ which hopefully will come in time for our trip to NYC next week. The IRS says the E-payment should be in my bank by Feb 6th, the day we leave.
I hope I hope.

NYC Comic-Con

Well NYC comic-con is in two weeks.   Looking forward to going this  year as I do every year.  It just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Not sure if it will ever be as big as San Diego Comic-Con but give it time. I get in every year for free since Im a professional in the business, even if it is on the fringe. Thats what makes the trip even more enjoyable,  not needing to pay the high admission price.

So two weeks from today we will head down to NYC after work.
Updates to follow and photos too.

Mr. President

Hail to the Cheif!

I'm not sure if you can judge a situation by the spectacle surrounding it.

In regards to the inauguration, they say there were over 2 million people. And all the pomp seemed dulled by the speech. It was very good but there was very little flair. Other than being the first black president and the large crowds there was very little to make it a memorable event. No great oratory gems to remember and quote years from now. Why is that today in modern speeches, very little real quotable moments. Is it just the speech writing is so week now or is it we don't want rousing speeches?Anyway, Bush is gone and now there is hope and already Mr Obama has begun to make changes (goodbye Guantanamo Bay). Now the real work begins…for the next 4 yrs.
